What is MRKH?

MRKH (Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser) Syndrome is a congenital condition, meaning it is present at birth. It is caused by a genetic mutation and results in the incomplete development of the female reproductive tract. Affecting 1 in every 5,000 women it results in an absent uterus, cervix and upper vagina.

MRKH sufferers often struggle psychologically with the impact of the condition and therefore access to professional support, counselling and patient support groups is essential from early diagnosis onwards.
